Set amid a forest of hemlock, fir, and birch, this ephemeral sculpture of stacked tree limbs surrounds second growth tree trunks. The piece is part of a larger land art piece called Harvest Walk. Built without fasteners, and exposed to the elements, the piece quickly falls into ruin, as wind, and the sway of trees themselves collapses towers between summer storms. Hemlock Grove is a fusion of references including the simple log house of early American farmsteads, and temple architecture of Japan and South East Asia.
