Empty vessels is sited on Paros Island, in Naoussa Bay, beneath the Mycenaean Acropolis: a bronze age fortified settlement and ancient port used for the transport of olive oil, cereals, and marble. Sculptures echo the shapes of amphorae and other ceramics commonly used in the transport of these materials, but also reference the ribbed hulls of traditional fishing boats still used throughout the Greek islands.
